Power facilities under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have faced increased strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced disruption to drinking water, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on electrical systems over recent weeks, while officials has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 missiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were striving to restore power.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and multiple civilians were injured.

The attacks follow periods of bombing campaigns in the territory, portions of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Russia was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
